Runway 4-22 Rehabilitation: Phases 1 and 2

Update June 3, 2016

Runways 4/22 remains closed as contractor has completed hauling the large quantity of fill dirt in the phase just southwest of the intersection of runway 13/31 (blue). 

Taxiway F is partially closed south of the passenger terminal to prevent aircraft from entering the construction zone.

Taxiway F is closed between runways 13/31 and 17/35.  The contractor has completed hauling fill dirt in this phase and is preparing to lay asphalt base.  Once complete with asphalt then concrete pavement operations are scheduled to begin.

Air traffic exiting the commercial terminal will be routed on taxiway F to taxiway K by air traffic control.

Taxiway J is closed.

 Taxiway E from runway 4/22 to the threshold of runway 35 is permanently closed.

All other Taxiways are open.

New GPS approaches are published for runway 17/35.

Long term schedule.

    ·      The airport is now advertising for bids for Runway 4/22 project 3.  This encompasses all areas shown in pink on the     color map.  Bid opening is scheduled for June 28, 2016.   We are hopeful that FAA can award the anticipated grant for this project in July 2016.  Once TYR is offered the grant we plan to fast track the award of the contracts to have work begin as quickly as possible.  This project is scheduled to last about a year depending on how much funding is awarded to award the project.

 ·       Bid documents are planned to be ready for bid for Project 4 (yellow) in the summer of 2016. 

Update 03-03-16

Runway 17/35 is now open. 

 Update 10-13-15

Runways 4/22 and 17/35 are closed.  Work is being performed in the intersection of these two runways.  Runway 13/31 remains open.    Expect runway 17/35 to reopen in early-February 2016.

Taxiway F is partially closed south of the passenger terminal to prevent aircraft from entering the construction zone.

Taxiway F is closed between runways 13/31 and 17/35.  Air traffic exiting the commercial terminal will be routed on taxiway F to taxiway K by air traffic control.

Taxiway J is closed.

Taxiway E from runway 4/22 to the threshold of runway 35 is permanently closed.

 All other Taxiways are open.

 New GPS approaches will be published once runway 17/35 is opened.

Expect Taxiway F to close very close to the time scheduled for runway 17/35 to reopen

 

UPDATE 07-10-15:

Runway 4/22 is closed.  Expect a partial re-opening in 18 - 24 months with approximately 5,600 feet available from Runway 13/31 to the end of Runway 4.

Taxiway F is partially closed south of the Passenger Terminal to prevent aircraft from entering the construction zone of Runway 4.

Taxiway J is closed.

Taxiway K is open for use.

The duration of Phase 3 is scheduled for 120 days, with an estimated completion of October 6, 2015.  Weather related delays may cause this to be extended and the airport will maintain updates on this website.

UPDATE 12-4-14:

Runway 4/22 has reopened in a new configuration with Declared Distances as shown on the exhibit.  The threshold at the approach end of runway 4 has been displaced 2,390’.

Taxiway F is partially closed South of the Passenger Terminal Ramp to prevent aircraft from entering the construction zone of runway 4.  

Taxiway J is closed.

 Taxiway K is open for use.

 The duration of this phase, Phase 2,  is scheduled for 150 days with an estimated date of completion of May 1, 2015. Weather days may cause this to be extended and the airport will maintain updates on this web site.

UPDATE 12/1/2014:

Beginning December 1, 2014 the airport will close runway 4/22 for approximately 4 days.  This schedule is subject to change so refer to NOTAMS.

The runway will reopen in the new configuration as shown on the Declared Distances Exhibit.

Taxiway F will be partially closed to prevent aircraft from entering the construction zone of  runway 4.

The duration of this phase of work is scheduled for 150 days.  Weather days may cause this to be extended and the airport will maintain updates on this web site.
