Now the home to over
100,000 residents, the City of Tyler continues to grow as a retail, commercial,
medical, educational and retirement hub for east Texas. As a result, old and
outdated development processes are inadequate to handle the enormous growth
Tyler continues to experience. Accordingly, the purpose of the newly created
Development Services Department is to improve the effectiveness, responsiveness
and efficiency of plat review, development review and building permit/inspection
process.
The Development Services
Department is composed of two divisions that are responsible for enforcement of
various City codes related to the development of property within the City of
Tyler. Plan review is performed by Development Services to assure that
development is in accordance with City. Inspections are performed by the
Building Inspection Division to assure compliance with City of Tyler codes
related to building construction and adapted building codes.
