Our Mission

The Tyler Solid Waste Department provides exceptional service that is both economically and environmentally responsible and meets the needs of our citizens.

Residential Trash Collection

We provide trash collection twice each week for nearly 29,000 Tyler households safely and efficiently. Computer generated route maps and automated collection trucks aid us in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and allow us to keep our rates among the lowest in Texas.

Recycling

The Solid Waste Department offers twice monthly residential recycling that is picked up twice a month for Tyler residential utility customers. We also maintain a free drop off recycling center that serves the East Texas region. Many of our recycled materials are used locally by area businesses.

Commercial Trash Collection

We offer commercial trash collection service that is competitively priced. The City of Tyler Solid Waste Commercial Department operates as a business that provides a quality service at a reasonable rate. We reinvest all of our "profits" directly into the Tyler community in many ways.

Bulky Item Pickup

In the spring and fall of each year, we provide Tyler residents free bulky item pickup for items that would normally require a special pick up fee. Many citizens take advantage of this service to clean out their garages of old furniture, fencing materials and appliances.
