Residential Recycling

The City of Tyler Solid Waste Department offers subscription-based curbside recycling to residential customers. Residents can sign up for this optional program and receive two curbside recycling pickups per month for $2.50 plus tax per month. A recycling cart is included in the subscription price. Materials DO NOT have to be sorted.

ALL MATERIALS MUST FIT INSIDE THE CONTAINER WITH THE LID CLOSED.   Materials left outside the container will not be picked up.

What materials are accepted?

Items Accepted Include:

  • Tin Food Cans (rinsed and crushed)
  • Aluminum Cans (rinsed and crushed)
  • Office Paper, Newspaper and Magazines
  • Cardboard of any type (broken down as flat as possible)
  • #1 and #2 Plastic containers such as soda, water bottles milk jugs and detergent bottles (rinsed and lids removed)

Look on the bottom of the container for one of these symbols:

NO GLASS. Please bring your clear, brown and green colored glass to the Recycling Center at 418 N. Bois D'Arc Ave. Click here for more information and hours of operation.

FOR OTHER RECYCLABLES
-- Plastic bags may be taken to any Brookshire's or Wal-Mart
-- Compact fluorscent bulbs can be taken to Lowe's or Home Depot
-- Batteries (rechargable or single use) can be taken to Batteries Plus or Interstate Batteries in Tyler.
-- Empty plastic medicine bottles can be taken to the Target store on S. Broadway (remove or obscure label to protect personal information)
