You can also bring the family and picnic under our tall shade trees, or relax with a good book. Follow the trail south of Shiloh Road and it will lead you to Tyler's Southside Park, which is a great place for children to play.

Tyler Cancer Bell
The unveiling and dedication of The Tyler Cancer Bell was held Nov. 2, 2002 on the northeast portion of the Rose Rudman Trail.
The Tyler Cancer Bell pavilion is a place of honor and remembrance for cancer patients, their families, and caregivers.

A unique example of civic accomplishment made possible by public and private contributions, the Tyler Cancer Bell was the vision of Cecilia Bronston, a young mother and cancer patient.  The City of Tyler donated the land for construction of the pavillion in Rose Rudman Park and contributed $5000 toward construction costs.  Remaining costs of more than  $15,000 were covered by private donations and in-kind contributions, many of them made in honor or memory of cancer patients.  The East Texas Communities Foundation served as fiscal agent for the project.

The Tyler Cancer Bell pavillion features an antique bronze bell cast in Troy, New York, in 1856.  Visitors are encouraged to ring the bell

  • To remember someone who lost the fight.
  • To congratulate a survivor
  • To give thanks to the caregivers
  • To give inspiration to those who seek a cure
