Tyler Parks and Recreation Department’s Glass Recreation Center has ‘dance fever’! To help spread the fun they will begin offering a variety of dance classes on Feb. 1.
- The second dance audition for the Fly Kids Dance will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1. This group will perform dances ranging from pop, jazz, break dance and even Broadway. Fly Kids is looking for talented, open-minded, hard working l boy and girl dancers who want to take their performing skills and experiences to a higher level. This is an audition for 40 spots in the dance troupe.
The cost is $10 per year with a few dance items to buy.
- Creative Dance Movement for dancers ages 3-6 years will meet on Tuesdays from 10-10:45 a.m.
The cost is $15 per month. This is an introduction to dance and movement; the class is very basic and will teach students correct placement and technique.
- Adult Ballet for dancers 16 and older will meet on Thursdays from 10-11:30 a.m.
The cost is $25 per month. This is a beginning class for students with little or no previous training. Students will be working on the fundamentals of ballet, as well as learning the terminology.
- Youth Ballet I for dancers ages 6-10 years will meet on Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m.
The cost is $25 per month. Emphasis will be placed on alignment and barre work; there will also be an introduction to center dance combinations.
- Youth Ballet II for dancers ages 11-14 years will meet on Saturdays from 9-10:30 a.m.
The cost is $25 per month. This class is a continuation of Ballet I; emphasis will be placed on speed and memory retention. The class will also reinforce alignment and barre works with center dance combinations.
