Popular streaming service now available to Library card holders
The popular on-demand video streaming service Kanopy is now available for free at Tyler Public Library. Library card holders can access Kanopy and sign up to start streaming films on demand instantly by visiting https://cityoftyler.kanopystreaming.com/
Offering what the New York Times calls “a garden of cinematic delights,” Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 titles, including award-winning documentaries and acclaimed films, rare and hard-to-find titles, and classic films, with collections from The Great Courses, Kino Lorber and PBS among many others.
Users will also be able to access Kanopy through a variety of devices and platforms, including Roku, Apple TV, iOS and Android, and Kanopy is also compatible for hearing- (with captions and transcripts) and visually-impaired patrons (compatible with technologies such as JAWS). Kanopy is free for users with a library card; all users need to do to get started streaming films is to visit https://cityoftyler.kanopystreaming.com/
With the motto of "thoughtful entertainment," Kanopy provides Tyler Public Library patrons with access to films of unique social and cultural value; films that are often difficult or impossible to access elsewhere and programming that features diversity, with a wide array of foreign language films and films on race, and current affairs.
“Gift funds have made this digital download service available for Tyler Public Library patrons and Kanopy will allow patrons to view an extensively curated collection of films,” said City Librarian Mary Vernau.
