Texas Bluebonnet Award voting comes to the Tyler Public Library
The Tyler Public Library is a designated voting place for the Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA). Each year, twenty titles are selected by the Texas Library Association’s Texas Bluebonnet Award committee. The list includes picture books, chapter books and nonfiction books. Children in grades three through six are required to read five of the books on the current list in order to vote. Voting will begin Tuesday, Jan. 3 and end Monday, Jan. 30.
“I feel this is the best children’s book award out there, since only children can vote,” says Youth Services Librarian Linda Gray. “The list is a great selection of current titles, and we have them as books, along with selections in our OverDrive electronic library” says Mrs. Gray.
Information packets about the booklist and the voting process are available, near the display of current TBA titles. This packet includes the list of titles with book and electronic formats available, as well as information on the program, and a postcard.
“Put the postcard on your fridge to remind young readers to ‘Read Five Then Decide’ so they can vote,” says Mrs. Gray.
