Tyler Police Arrest Suspect for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On Thursday, November 23, 2017, at 12:00 p.m., Tyler Police responded to 710 Kennedy Ave on an assault that just occurred.  When the first officer arrived on the scene he observed the suspect matching the description in the 600 block of Kennedy Ave, walking away from the scene.

The suspect was identified as Leo Patrick Collins, B/M, age 51 of Tyler.  Upon further investigation Collins was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and transported to Smith County Jail.

Collins had assaulted his 54 year-old female neighbor Jacqueline Ewell and 45 year-old Bufford McGee, by striking them both with a table leg.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital by EMS for treatment.  Ewell suffered a serious head injury and McGee suffered a broken arm.
