On Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 4:11 a.m., Tyler Police received a 911 call in reference to a head on collision on Toll Road Loop 49 involving a Charter Bus and Pick-up.  The crash occurred ¼ mile east of 69 South on Loop 49 in the west bound lane.  An ECHO Charter Bus traveling westbound on Loop 49 was loaded with 32 occupants: 1 driver, 6 adults, and 25 students who were from Brookhill School returning from Orlando Florida.  The Chevy Z-71 Pick-up was traveling eastbound on Loop 49 and was occupied by two adult males who were deceased upon officers arrival.  A total of five occupants of the bus including the driver, two adults and two students were transported to UT Tyler Health Hospital by EMS with minor injuries.

All witness accounts at this time indicate that the Pick-up traveled into the westbound lane striking the bus front left causing it to end up off the roadway.  Parents arrived on scene of the crash to pick-up their loved ones.  Assisting with the crash were several units from U.T Tyler EMS, Tyler Fire Department, Tyler Investigators and Officers, J.P. Andy Dunklin and Tyler Police Chaplain.  The names of the two deceased will be released when next of kin has been notified.  Investigators are working with ECHO Bus Company officials to retrieve the video footage from the front windshield of the bus as the investigation continues.

Loop 49 will remain shut down between 69 South and Paluxy until the crash scene is cleared.
