Holiday in the Garden and Bazaar opens Dec. 9

The Tyler Rose Garden and Center will be hosting the 12th Annual Holiday in the Garden and Bazaar on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This year’s event features many activities such as a train ride, story time with Mrs. Clause, an ice sculpture demonstration, the North Pole workshop where children can make a craft and a station where letters to Santa can be written and cards to our military – all for free! More than 55 bazaar vendors will be inside the Rose Garden Center, providing unique holiday shopping for men, women and children. There will be concessions and a Kid’s Zone available for a fee. KLTV 7’s Santa Scirto will be at the garden from 3:30 to 6 p.m. for photos. Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the day. For a complete list of activities and events scheduled, visit www.TylerParksandRec.com.
The Parks Department will be collecting unwrapped gifts for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree during the event. Event goers are invited to bring gifts for children as well as senior adults. There will be a drop off box inside the Rose Garden Center.
“This year’s event is going to be fun for the whole family due to all the activities, shopping and sites to see,” said Debbie Isham, special events/recreation manager. “We hope that everyone who attends this year’s event will enjoy the garden like never before.”
In addition to Holiday in the Garden, the Rose Garden will remain “dressed for the holidays” through Dec. 30. Visitors should note that the Rose Park Drive entrance gate into the garden will be locked starting Dec. 4 through Jan. 3. Access to the garden will be permitted through the Rose Garden Center building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. There are special evening times scheduled for visitors to see the garden after 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. through the month of December. Evening visitation times are as follows:
• Dec. 9 (Holiday in the Garden and Bazaar event day)
• Dec. 13 to 16
• Dec. 20 to 23
• Dec. 27 to 30
