
The Tyler Police Department Communications Unit utilizes some of the most modern, efficient and up to date technology in dispatching calls for service. The Communications center is equipped with an 800 MHz radio system, which enables Dispatchers to communicate with City of Tyler Patrolmen, Firemen, other City departments and surrounding emergency service agencies located within Smith County. Public Safety Telecommunicators utilize CAD to enter and dispatch calls for service to laptops that are installed in all Fire Engines and Patrol vehicles. The center is manned by 27 Public Safety Telecommunicators . The day to day operations of the Communications center is under the supervision of Carla Terry, Erin Walker and Marisa Pittman. The Terminal Agency Coordinator is Amanda Cook. The Communications Unit is managed by Sgt. Tommy Lewis and is under the command of A/C Steve Sharron.
