The Tyler Police Department Honor Guard functions as ambassadors of not only the Police Department but also of the City of Tyler.  Officers function as liaisons for the City of Tyler while attending funeral services for Officers killed in the line of duty.  The Honor Guard  hosts a  memorial service in May for Texas Officers killed in the line of duty.  Several members of the Honor Guard have attended the National Peace Officer's Memorial Service held in Washington D.C. and the Texas Peace Officer's Memorial Service in Austin, Tx.  The Honor Guard participates annually in the Christmas Parade, Rose Parade, and posts colors for various Law Enforcement related meetings in the area.  The Honor Guard is under the command of Lieutenant Diannia Jackson
