The Tyler Police Department has a full time traffic enforcement unit staffed by two sergeants and fifteen officers. Fourteen of these officers are equipped with motorcycles and conduct traffic enforcement on both day and evening shifts. Moving and stationary radars, lasers, and window tint meters are among some of the modern technological tools used by the Traffic Unit. Traffic Officers duties include enforcing traffic laws, performing escort and traffic control at large events, and conducting traffic safety programs.
