The City of Tyler Solid Waste Department offers subscription-based curbside recycling to residential customers. Residents can sign up for this optional program and receive two curbside recycling pickups per month for $2.50 plus tax per month. A recycling cart is included in the subscription price.
Materials do not have to be sorted.
Recycling is picked up twice a month on Wednesdays, depending on your location.
Those living west of Broadway have their recyclables picked up on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.
Those living East of Broadway have their recyclables picked up on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.

Items accepted in the subscription curbside recycling program include the following:

Newspapers and magazines

Aluminum cans

Steel/tin cans

Mixed office paper (no shredded paper)

Corrugated cardboard

#1 PETE plastic soda bottles (rinsed with lids removed)

#2 HDPE plastic ALL COLORS! (rinsed with lids removed)
Items NOT accepted and why:
Some plastic items can't be recycled because they are contaminated (ie empty motor oil bottle)
Plastic bags may be recycled by returning them to Wal-Mart or Brookshire's.
Some items like Styrofoam can't be recycled because there is no market for it.
Some items can't be recycled because they are not recoverable at the sorting facility (ie plastic forks, drinking straws, small medical bottles).
