Street & Lane closures in the City of Tyler are posted upon notification by any entity planning to reduce traffic lanes or close city thorough fares for any duration.

Temporary three-way stop at
West Ferguson and Bois D’Arc

 

The intersection of West Ferguson and Bois D’Arc has temporarily been converted to a three-way stop. The existing signals will be replaced with new pole foundations, poles, electronics and wiring as part of the Downtown Signal Modernization Project.

 

Stop signs for all three approaches have been erected on poles and these conditions are expected to continue for up to two or more weeks.

 

Drivers are encouraged to drive safely and use caution while workers are present.

Intermittent road closures on ESE Loop 323

According to officials at Centerpoint Energy a new gas pipeline will be installed on East South East Loop 323, beginning at the intersection of Paluxy, going west and ending between South Broadway and Old Bullard Road.

Beginning today, there will be intermittent lane closures until the end of the year, which will affect the outside westbound lane and possibly some intersections along that route. 

Some of this project will be worked during late evening and night time hours. Installation will hopefully be completed on or before the end of year.

Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while workers are present and anyone utilizing this road is encouraged to temporarily seek alternate routes.

Railroad Quiet Zone Project

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, the City of Tyler will permanently close North Border Avenue at the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) track between the St. James Church and the Tyler Water Utility Business Office.

This closure it part of the Quiet Zone Initiative the City Council approved at their regularly scheduled meeting on Oct. 27, 2010 that eventually will partially eliminate the blowing of whistles by trains passing through the City of Tyler. Once the quiet zone is completed, passing trains would only blow their whistle when the engineer spots an obstruction on the track.This will decrease the deafening noise from train horns experienced by the adjacent property owners.

 

To apply to the railroad for a quiet zone, the stretch of track must have gates at each street grade crossing. The gates serve as physical warning devices which the flashing lights cannot accomplish alone. 

 

Currently, the two crossings in the city limits which do not have gates are Claude Street and North Palace Avenue.  Union Pacific will not allow gates to be placed at both of these crossings due to their close proximity to each other. Consequently, Claude Street will eventually be closed.

 

The crossing at Border Avenue currently has gates and cabinets for housing the batteries and electronics.  The crossing is being closed and the expensive railroad equipment will be moved to Palace Avenue to meet the requirement of a gate at each crossing.

October 21, 2011 - TXDOT maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue pavement repairs on SH 110 in Tyler between West Loop 323 and US 69 (Gentry Parkway).

 

Daytime lane closures will be in while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.

July 1, 2011 -- TxDOT crews are scheduled to seal US 69 (West Gentry Parkway and Glenwood Boulevard) between North Loop 323 and West Erwin Street on Wednesday, and SH 110 (Van Highway) between East Loop 323 and FM 3271 on Thursday before moving into Van Zandt County.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each seal coat location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid delays. Loose gravel may be present for several days following seal coat application.

 

 

 

 

 

Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to perform pavement-texturing operations on FM 756 (Paluxy Drive) on Monday and Tuesday at the intersections of:

·       Shiloh

·       Grande,

·       Jeff Davis

·       Cumberland Road

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.
