Beauty and the Box Program Wraps Last Box on Downtown Square
The City of Tyler Beauty and the Box program is a beautification program that began in 2016 to take utilitarian traffic boxes and transform them into beautiful works of art by local artists. What started as a pilot program of ten boxes in the Downtown Business Arts and Culture District has grown to 29 vinyl-wrapped boxes all across the City of Tyler.
The latest box to be sponsored and wrapped, completes all of the boxes on the Downtown Square. The box, located at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Ferguson Street, has been sponsored by Tab and Bonnie Beall of Tyler. The artwork, featuring a painted scene of West Erwin Street, is by local artist Diane Frossard.
Any local artists can submit artwork to be considered for this program to Main Street Gallery. Sponsors are able to look through the collections of submitted artwork and choose the piece they would like on their box. Artists will receive a stipend for their work if it is chosen by a sponsor for this program.
