Last call for volunteers: Repair Café

The Library needs those who are good with their hands! Library staff is in search of handy men and women who can repair broken things like household objects and small appliances. To encourage people to repair their household items, a new initiative called Repair Café is coming to the Library and needs volunteers for July 22 and 23.  A Repair Café is a place where people come together to learn how to repair household items from those who are knowledgeable.

When items are repaired instead of thrown away and replaced, the need for new products to continuously be remade from raw products lessens.

“Too often people throw away items that only have one small defect and go out and buy it again brand new,” says, Connie Greer, access librarian.

The Library is looking for volunteers with the following skills: small engine repair, carpentry, small appliance repair, jewelry, sewing, electrical, IT devices, toys or bicycles.

Volunteers must bring their own tools and have completed volunteer orientation.

For more information, contact Connie Greer, access librarian, at or Yolanda Prince, volunteer coordinator, at
