One Suspect in Custody after Convenience Store Robbery

UPDATE #3 01/23/2013

 

 

On Tuesday, January 22, 2013, Darryl Earl Daniels Jr., B/M, 04/05/1989, surrendered to authorities on a charge of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Daniels was placed into Smith County Jail on a $100,000.00 bond.

Police are still seeking the whereabouts of Ashad Rael Coats, B/M, 05/21/1987. This case is remains under investigation.

 

UPDATE #2 01/18/2013

 

Tyler Investigators have identified two more individuals that are connected to the Aggravated Robbery of Food Fast that occurred on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.

They are identified as Darryl Earl Daniels Jr., B/M, 04/05/1989, address 623 S. Ross, Tyler. The second suspect is Ashad Rael Coats, B/M, 05/21/1987, address 1213 W. Connally, Tyler.

Tyler Police Department has an outstanding warrant for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity on each suspect. Bond was set at $100,000. Additional charges are pending further investigation.

Jaqun Dawson is still in a local hospital and will also be charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the two above suspects involved in this crime is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833). Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.

One Suspect in Custody after Convenience Store Robbery

 

On Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 4:44 a.m. Tyler Police responded to an Armed Robbery at Food Fast - Exxon, located at 4201 University Blvd.

The store clerk told officers that he was outside the store smoking when he was approached by two b/m’s wearing all black, ski masks and armed with handguns.

The suspects took the clerk inside the store and demanded cash from the register. A customer walked into the store during the robbery and was not harmed. The suspects fled on foot to the rear of the store when police were called.

Upon searching the area behind the store with a police K-9 they located one of the suspects lying in the wooded area who had been shot in the lower right leg. Officers located a gun and other evidence linking him to the robbery.

The suspect was identified as Jaqun Jamel Dawson, B/M, 06/26/1995 (17), of Dallas, Texas. Dawson was transported to a local hospital and was treated for his injury. Investigators will be seeking an arrest warrant for Aggravated Robbery on Dawson today.

Officers set up a perimeter, but were not able to locate the second suspect after several hours of searching.
