Suspect Arrested connected to Credit Card Skimming


On Wednesday, August 10, 2017, Tyler Police responded to Walmart Super Center located at 5050 Troup Highway looking for a suspect that was purchasing numerous gift cards with cloned stolen credit card information.

Upon officers arrival that located the suspect leaving in his vehicle.  Officers detained him to investigate the suspicious activity that was reported.  Officers located numerous gift cards that were determined to be purchased with stolen cloned credit card information that was in his possession.

The suspect was identified as Yoslays Garcia Torres, born 02/04/1983, of Houston, Texas.  Investigators were able to identify some of the stolen credit card information linking the victims to Tyler.  Investigators believe that this suspect gained the stolen credit card information from gas pump skimming.  Torres was placed under arrest for Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information a (State Jail Felony), his bond was set at $1,000,000.

We urge everyone that may observe any individual who is purchasing numerous gift cards with several credit cards at a self-service check out.  Please call police immediately and get a license plate of vehicle if suspect leaves before officers arrive.
