INSTRUCTIONS FOR ENTRY - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
DESCRIPTION: Each exhibit is a juried competition organized by Gallery Main Street and the Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition. Exhibitions will primarily showcase the work of artists from the East Texas area. The scope of the exhibit will be two- or three-dimensional original art representing the artist’s interpretation of the show theme.
AWARDS: Monetary awards for juried works will be presented to the winner of the Best in Show award.
SALES: Gallery Main Street will retain a 20% commission on all sales. Please price your work accordingly. Purchaser will be responsible for picking up artwork or for shipping costs. Artist must fill out City of Tyler Vendor Form to receive payment.
ELIGIBILITY: This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition fitting the theme as stated on the exhibition calendar and as interpreted by the artist. Only original art will be accepted (no giclees or reproductions). Two-dimensional works are to be ready-to-hang and shall not exceed 72” x 72”, including frame width. Exposed canvas edges are to be finished. Three-dimensional sculptured works must fit through a typical three-foot-wide doorway and be light enough for one person to handle. If special pedestals are needed to complete the piece, please send images displaying the work and pedestal and the size of the pedestal in addition to the images of art of the Jury. Source material must be your own design or your own photograph. Work taken from published images will not be accepted.
FRAMING: Works that are two-dimensional must be ready to hang. Framing must be light enough for one person to handle and must be sturdy enough to support the weight of the work. All hanging works require wire-hanging hardware (no sawtooth hangers allowed). Improperly framed or damaged works will not be accepted or hung.
LIABILITY: Gallery Main Street will insure all works in the period between stated delivery and pick-up. All reasonable care will be taken in the handling of the entries. All works are insured subject to the limitations, terms and specifications of our fine art insurance policy, and liability will be isolated to our insurance policy.
ENTRY FEES AND PROCEDURE: A non-refundable entry fee of $20 qualifies an artist to submit up to three entries per exhibit. All work submitted for consideration must have been completed in the past two years. No late entries will be accepted. No more than three images per artist can be submitted for each exhibit. Do not submit more than one image of any work of art. Gallery Main Street and DTAC reserve the right to reproduce accepted works for promotional materials. The digital file must be in jpeg format no more than 1920 pixels at the widest point with a saved size of no less than 1 MB and no more than 3 MB resolution (many drug stores and photo labs do this).
Gallery Main Street and Jury panel reserve the right to refuse exhibition of work it deems inappropriate for the display in a public space. Any work not reflecting the digital image entered or any work not meeting the exhibition standards may be rejected by the jury panel at time of installation.
ACCEPTANCE, DELIVERY AND RETURN:
All accepted work is to be hand-delivered to the gallery at the statedtake-in date and time. No works will be accepted by shipping. Artists are required to provide an Art Exhibition and Loan Agreement at the time of delivery completely filled in prior to arrival (agreements are sent via email upon acceptance). A copy of the signed Art Exhibition and Loan Agreement will be the receipt for all accepted works. Works may not be removed from the exhibit until the end of the show. Artists must pick up work at the designated calendar take-down date. A $10 per day fine will be imposed on all work not picked up on the take-down date. If work is not claimed within two weeks of that date, it will become the property of Gallery Main Street. Gallery will not store coverings or boxes of any kind for exhibition artwork.
