On July 24, 2019, the Tyler City Council passed an ordinance to prohibit the use of groundwater from beneath 37.712 acres of land within the City limits, located at 1700 E. Duncan St., in order to facilitate the certification of the property with a Municipal Setting Designation (MSD) by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

We have prepared this set of answers to the frequently asked questions that the City has received regarding the Municipal Setting Designation process, with the hope that it will help our citizens realize the benefits of the program. Water Utilities Administration provides executive oversight and administrative support to all departments within the Utility so that the Utility functions as a single, cohesive operation in order to better serve our customers. It provides personnel administration and development, records management, and project planning, funding and management for all major water and sewer capital improvements. Water Utilities Administration also acts as a liaison with other City departments, as well as Federal, State and local organizations and regulatory agencies on all water and sewer issues.

The City of Tyler is proud to announce its new website - Tyler Public Works. It is a joint effort between the City of Tyler Engineering Department and Tyler Water Utilities to highlight capital improvement projects related to streets, drainage, water, wastewater and other public facilities to benefit the citizens of Tyler.
