Tyler Public Library January Youth Programs

Family Movie Matinees:
 
Families and children are invited to enjoy movie matinees in the Library’s auditorium. Carpet-friendly snacks, blankets and pillows are allowed. Visit the Library’s website for movie titles. Movie showtimes are listed below.
 
Thursday, Jan. 2. at 10:30 a.m.
Friday, Jan. 3 at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m.
 
Lego®  Block Party:
 
Saturday, Jan. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m.: Families and children are invited to build Lego® creations at this come and go event. Use wheels, building plates, doors, windows and more to make your imagination a reality brick-by-brick. And while you are at it, check out a Lego® person to play with in your one-of-a-kind Lego® build.
 
Storytimes
 
Infants, toddler and preschoolers are invited to the Library weekday mornings for age-appropriate storytimes that include reading, singing and playing! Registration is not required.
 
There will be no storytimes from Dec. 22 to Jan. 4. For sessions starting before the Library opens, please enter through the auditorium’s external door. See below for more program information.
 
Mondays at 10:30 a.m.: Leeme un Cuento is a Spanish storytime geared for ages three to six years, but all ages are welcome.
 
Tuesdays at 9 a.m., Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.: Toddler Time is suggested for ages 18 to 36 months.
 
Wednesdays at 9:15 a.m.: Infant Lap and Play Time is for newborn babies up to 18 months.
 
Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.: Read Aloud Crowd is geared toward preschoolers ages three to five years, but all ages are welcome.
 
Tween Programs
 
Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m.: Tweens in fifth through seventh grade can help the Library’s tween collection and programs grow by joining the Tween Advisory Council. Tweens who are at least 12 years old on the council will also earn volunteer credit hours.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m.: Tweens in fifth through seventh grade can participate in Tween Tuesday programs that feature a different activity each time. Activities have included games, crafts and more!
 
Teen Programs
 
Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 4:30 p.m.: Teens in eight through 12th grade are invited to join the Library’s Teen Advisory Council meeting. Teens on the council will be able to help influence the Library’s teen collection and programs. Teens on the council will also earn volunteer credit hours.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m.: Teens in eight through 12th grade can participate in Teen Tuesday programs that feature a different activity each time. Activities have included games, crafts and more!
 
Makerspace
 
Tyler Public Library Makerspace sessions are held every second and fourth Saturday featuring activities and learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Makerspace programming will continue into the summer months. The following program is recommended for ages 10 through 18 and registration is required.
 
On Jan. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m., visit the Tyler Public Library Makerspace to make your own spectroscope and explore the spectrum of different light sources. Registration is required and limited to 15 participants.
