January Library Programs

Great Decisions

The Tyler Public Library has partnered with the American Association of University Women and League of Women Voters to host the annual Great Decisions lecture series on Wednesdays from Jan. 15 through March 4 at noon in the Library auditorium. There will be political lectures on a range of topics with speakers from the community. The Foreign Policy Association chooses these topics every year. Patrons can purchase a book on the issues at the Library’s information desk for $25.



Friends of the Tyler Public Library (FTPL) Meeting

The FTPL organization will be holding their monthly meeting Thursday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. in the Makerspace. Anyone interested in joining FTPL is encouraged to come. From BOB the 3-D Printer to Yoga to the copy machines, the Friends of the Tyler Public Library provides support to your library in a myriad of ways!




Master Gardener’s Lecture Series

The annual Master Gardener lecture series will begin again on Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. in the Library auditorium. Listen to talented speakers discuss a variety of gardening subjects every third Friday from January through May.


Tips & Tools for Helping Seniors Avoid Financial Exploitation

How can you recognize and reduce the risk of senior financial exploitation? How can you guard yourself against identity theft? What can you do to plan financially and prepare for the unexpected? We will have the answers to these questions and more on Jan. 23 at 3 p.m. in the Library auditorium.


Managing Your Money

What are the steps for setting financial goals? How can you track your daily spending habits? Are there ways to increase your income and decrease your spending? If you’d like to discuss the answers to these questions, then come to the Library auditorium on Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m. for an educational class.

  • Meditation: Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the third-floor Makerspace
  • Writer’s Club: Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. in the third-floor Makerspace
  • Chess Club: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the third-floor Makerspace
  • Crochet: Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the third-floor Makerspace
  • East Texas Genealogical Society Meeting: Second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. in the Library Auditorium
  • Talking Tales: Second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Library Auditorium
  • Ham Radio Classes: First and third Saturdays of the month from 2 to 4 p.m. in the third-floor Makerspace
  • Computer Classes: First and third Fridays and fourth Saturday of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Library Computer Lab. Sign up online or by calling the Library.
