Post Date:06/22/2020

City Council meetings to reopen to the public

Effective Wednesday, June 24, Tyler City Council meetings will open to the public.  City Council meetings will occur the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers on the 2nd Floor of City Hall, 212 S. Bonner Ave.

The following procedures will be utilized beginning on June 24 and continuing thereafter until further notice of the City Council:

  • A maximum capacity of 36 people will be allowed in the City Council Chamber, of which 22 will be reserved for general members of the public not including the media.  Seating will be marked to follow social distancing rules and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  The temporary limited Council Chamber capacity follows social distancing guidelines disseminated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. Temperatures will be taken at the door upon arrival.

  • Hand sanitizer and masks will be made available to any member of the public who desires to use these safety measures as they enter City Hall.  However, neither will be required for admittance.

  • For those members of the public who still wish to attend City Council virtually, the City will continue to live stream each Council meeting on Facebook to be watched live or on demand.

Members of the public who wish to participate by making a public comment on any agenda item may do so either electronically, in-person or over the phone by calling (903) 363-0651. Electronic forms must be submitted by 7 a.m. on the date of the Council Meeting. Those submitting electronically should ensure the correct phone number is provided on the form. Public speakers will be called at the phone number they list during their item of interest. Those attending City Council in-person may physically fill out a Public Participation Form located outside the Chambers’ main entrance.

For more information, please call (903) 531-1100.
