Post Date:02/12/2025

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Tyler City Council approved a contract for $28,191,846 with Belt Construction of Texas, LLC, for capacity improvements to Consent Decree Group 2 Sewer Site 13a2. The contract is part of the City's efforts to address its aging wastewater collection system and discharges resulting from it, per the Consent Decree entered into with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2017.

The project will increase the capacity of 18,141 linear feet of sanitary sewer line in the collection system from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Bryan Street.

Remediation for assets in Group 2 Segment 13a2 is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2027.

The City of Tyler remains committed to the Consent Decree and is working diligently to improve its wastewater collection system. For more information, visit the Consent Decree page on the City of Tyler website.
