The City of Tyler is advising drivers of new street closures and traffic pattern changes as construction continues across the Downtown area. These updates reflect work associated with both the ongoing Downtown Improvement Project and the Consent Decree Group 2 Capacity Improvements.
Closures and traffic changes beginning Wednesday, Nov. 19:
- Bois D’Arc Avenue will be closed between Woldert Street and Elm Street from Wednesday, Nov. 19 through Friday, Nov. 21 for brick street removal.
- The intersection of Elm Street and Spring Street will be closed beginning Wednesday, Nov. 19 for an estimated six weeks as part of the Consent Decree capacity improvements.
- Spring Street, between Erwin Street and Elm Street, will be temporarily converted to two-way traffic for local access only, allowing movement into and out of the Spring Street parking lot. (Consent Decree Project)
- Regular Erwin Street traffic will be routed north onto Spring Street during this closure period.

Upcoming closures (Dec. 2–22):
To support the next phase of the Consent Decree Group 2 Capacity Improvements, additional closures are scheduled from Tuesday, Dec. 2 through Monday, Dec. 22:
- Elm Street between College Avenue and Broadway Avenue will be closed for continued underground utility work.
- A portion of College Avenue, located in front of the Fair Plaza Parking Garage, will also be closed during this period.
- The current entrance to the Fair Plaza Parking Garage will operate as a single lane in and out to maintain access throughout construction.
The Elm Street and College Avenue intersection will remain open, allowing traffic to move around the construction zone.

Access and detours
Access to nearby businesses, parking areas, and sidewalks will remain available where possible. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detour signs, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible while work is underway in the Downtown area.
Free parking is available at the Fair Plaza Parking Garage, located at 208 S. College Ave., and the Smith County Parking Garage, located at 210 E. Ferguson St.
