The vision for the Tyler Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan continues to take shape. An open house will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tyler Public Library to share the plan’s details with the community.
The come-and-go event will showcase various strategies for housing, land use, transportation, economic development, public infrastructure, and other related topics, as outlined in the Comprehensive Plan. Community members will have the opportunity to share their input on the priorities for Tyler over the next 20 years.
On Wednesday, Jan. 14, the City Council received a presentation with a status update on how the new plan will serve as a roadmap to guide growth.
Feedback from the community so far has highlighted the following priorities:
- Transportation and traffic management improvements, including sidewalks, trails and multimodal options
- Infrastructure capacity and public services
- Housing quality, affordability and neighborhood character
- Preservation of natural resources, including tree canopy and water availability
- Investment in arts, culture and Tyler's community identity
Work on the Tyler Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan began in the fall of 2024 with a statistically valid community survey, and it is expected to be adopted by the City Council in early 2026.
