Main Street Board

The Main Street Board shall have four standing objectives: Design, Economic Vitality, Organization, and Promotions in coordination with the National Main Street Program. It will advocate downtown revitalization in Tyler and assist the Main Street Director in a number of ways including but not limited to the following:

  1. To assist in policy development;
  2.  To assist in policy development;
  3. To develop/implement a strategic plan and directives for the program;
  4. To review and participate in the Main Street Certification reports;
  5. To promote tourism;
  6. To review the Downtown Revitalization Grant Program applications for approval;
  7. To encourage the preservation of buildings of historical, traditional and cultural value;
  8. To encourage arts and culture activities to beautify and enrich the community life of Tyler;
  9. To disseminate knowledge, to promote interest, to encourage study and research and to act in
  10. an advisory capacity to interested groups or persons and organizations regarding those things already enumerated; and
  11. To cooperate with other persons, groups, and agencies in effecting these objectives.

The Board will meet every other month and will be composed of seven (7) members, two of which shall be Heart of Tyler Executive Board members. The remaining five (5) may include but are not limited to, Downtown residents, Downtown business owners, property owners, and individuals who share an interest in Downtown.
