STEAM Learning Programs

The Tyler Public Library caters its Makerspace to the areas of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Mathematics). The Makerspace is for kids, teens, and families who want to learn, play and grow together. A library card is not needed to participate and classes are free!

Makerspace is made possible by the cooperation of library staff, volunteers, and the Friends of the Tyler Public Library. For more information, please contact our Circulation Supervisor, Brenda Choy.

The Robotics Class scheduled for February has been cancelled and will resume again in March.  

Popsicle Stick Car Derby

Rev up your engines and get ready to zoom in for a Popsicle Stick Car Derby at the Tyler Public Library’s Makerspace. The Tyler Public Library Makerspace will be holding Popsicle Stick Car building classes on February 8th and February 22nd culminating with a derby on March 14th.  In both building classes, you will build one model of two that will be offered on that date. You will then chose one of the ones you have built at previous classes and race it in the Derby for a chance at winning a prize.

Registration is required and limited to 15 participants per class.

Tyler Public Library Makerspace is pleased to present an opportunity to learn the basic of Computer Science by programming a variety of robots.  This activity is being coordinated through a partnership with the Griffin Elementary Robotics program.  It will be guided by Griffin Elementary students and supervised by their teacher, Jesus Sanchez.
