The City of Tyler began a Pilot Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) program in April 2010. With the new CNG station installed in January 2011, we began a four step process with our CNG program.
The first is doing our part in helping to save lives with less pollution (Nox).
The second is saving the tax payer's money by finding alternative fuels that are truly proving to be cost efficient.
The third step is promoting the idea of 'Buying American'. We want to do our part in helping the local economy by creating and saving jobs.
The average cost of CNG from October 2015 to December 2015 was $0.88 a gallon.
To date, we have received over $342,000 in grant funding to help with our CNG Program.
