What We Do

Some of the various responsibilities of the City Clerk's Office include:

  • Serving as Clerk to the Mayor and Council.
  • Manage/Process Legal Notices and Publications for Publishing.
  • Administration of the City's record management and retention program.
  • Prepare minutes of the City Council meetings.
  • Process Ordinances and Resolutions.
  • Manage/Process appointments to City Boards and Commissions.
  • Conduct City Elections by City Charter and Texas Election Law provisions.
  • Assist with Public Information Requests.

Records Management

The City of Tyler is dedicated to maintaining transparency in local government.

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts has recognized the City of Tyler with a "Platinum Leadership Circle Award" for transparency in local government. The City scored 22 of 23 possible points on the ratings criteria to earn this award.

The City Clerk's Office provides a records management, retention, disposition and micro-graphics program and preserves historical documents.
