Share your feedback on proposed projects in the Half Cent Annual Work Plan with the City of Tyler by Sunday, Sept. 20!
The Annual Work Plan includes ongoing and upcoming projects for roads and traffic, public safety, economic development, and infrastructure upgrades. It is a tiered list of capital improvement projects based on needs for the next ten years and is funded by the Half Cent Sales Tax Program.
Each spring, a community call for projects is held to learn where and what type of improvements residents would like across the city. A total of 188 project submissions were received in April 2026 that resulted in 61 new projects on the list.
On Wednesday, July 22, the City Council received a presentation on the Half Cent Sales Tax Annual Work Plan. Projects that are currently in progress and will continue include the Downtown Improvement Project and the reconstruction of Fire Station No. 2 as well as annual programs that address drainage, asphalt enhancement, traffic signal modernization, railroad crossing improvements and sidewalk improvements.
Capital improvements projected to start include airport projects, drainage updates across Tyler, implementation of South Tyler Mobility Study recommendations, and initial work for the future Fire Training Facility and reconstruction of Fire Station No. 6.
New projects address support for grant opportunities such as the Small Community Air Service Development Program and Highway Safety Improvement Program as well as participation associated with the City’s responsibility with new development.
